May 22, 2008 (DVB)–Eight Chinese-made pickup trucks destined for Burma, including at least two intended for use by the police force, have arrived at the Chinese border town of Ruili, across from Muse in Burma.
A merchant in Muse told DVB the pickup trucks were seen in Ruili and were delivered into Burma on Sunday evening and two of them had the Burmese police force logo on the sides.
While locals have frequently seen military trucks being delivered from China into Burma through Ruili, they said it was the first time police vehicles had been sent along this route.
Sources also said that several Burmese police officers have been given police training at China's National Security University and at a police academy in Yunnan province.
